Lurid Adventure Awaits

**Welcome one and all!**
*Dreadful Tales is a group based on pulp magazines from the 1840s-1930s.
*This is a magazine for which stories, illuatrations, and imaginary advertisements will be gathered for regular issues.
*Joining is by invitation, so ask if you'd like to contribute here and we'll consider you.
*"Dreadful" is in reference to "Penny Dreadfuls", the serialized pulp literature of England in the 19th century, the counterpart to the American "Dime Novel".
*Dreadful Tales only accepts art and writings that fit with it's vintage themes and will not accept material in a modern spirit. This is purely in reference to aesthetic.
*For more details, read here: New Group! "Dreadful Tales: The Journal of Lurid Adventure"
It's Here! :icondreadful-tales:
Penny Dreadfuls, Dime Novels, Pulp Magazines: the 10c mass produced serial fiction of a century ago. From this “low culture” arose characters and trends and careers that have endured into our day. This lurid, exploitative literary format included highly energetic writing and arresting illustration. Let's bring it back!

In order to participate in, join, or even understand this group, you have to have a sense of the flavor we're aiming at here. We're all going back in time to the mid 19th to early 20th centuries to celebrate the throwaway pop literature of the Victorian and Edwardian eras. This is by no means confined to England, America and friends are included. We're talking about PULP: mass produced magazines, newspapers, leaflets, that brought thrilling stories to the public, chapter by cliff-hanging chapter! They were kn

Great, thanks!  I won't submit anything with nudity or of a pornographic nature; but I do have illustrations for my take on the story of the fictional gods of Olympus and my own story of an evil king.  I don't know how soon I will have them ready, however.  I stay very busy with work and with my wife.

Sweet! Do you believe that these stories could
fit comfortably within the pulp world of the
1840s-1930s?
